European Brick Stone Gothic Tour itinerary

Day 1: Individual departure from the U.S. or elsewhere
Day 2: Individual arrival & activities in Berlin. Welcome Dinner in the modern German capital Berlin - one of the most spirited and exciting cities in the world! Overnight stay: Berlin
Day 3: Town Parchim (St. Mary’s & St. George’s church, city hall from the 14th century), historic brickworks in the village Benzin, state capital Schwerin (old town, fairytale castle Schwerin set on a lake with castle gardens, cathedral with organ, St. Nicolas’ & St. Paul’s church, grinding mill from the 18th century), boat trip (only May-September), Grevesmuehlen (one of the oldest towns in the Region Mecklenburg, St. Nicolas’ church from the 13th century, Dutch wind mill). Overnight stay: Wismar
Day 4: city Wismar (UNESCO World Heritage Site, old town centre with all key characteristics of a Baltic Sea coastal trading town in Germany and a member of the Hanseatic League from the 14th century, St. Mary’s & St. Nicolas’ & St. George’s church), Bad Doberan (Franciscan monastery & minister, resort railway “Molli” from 1886), seaside resorts Heiligendamm (site of G8-summit Germany 2007) and Kuehlungsborn (Baltic Sea brewpub, beach trip, amber jewelry). Overnight stay: Kuehlungsborn
Day 5: Hanseatic & University city Rostock (old town centre, St. Mary’s & St. Nicolas’ church, old town library, university from 1419), seaside resort & harbor Warnemuende (typical coastal gothic architecture and the romantic atmosphere of a former fishing village), Baltic Sea Island Ruegen (largest Island of Germany, biosphere reservation, distillery in the remote fishing village Alt-Reddewitz, beach trip). Overnight stay: Island Ruegen
Day 6: Hanseatic city Stralsund - an inexhaustible source of living history (old city hall, St. Mary’s & St. Nicolas’ church, church of the Holy Spirit, patrician houses, Baltic Sea port with warehouses and canals), University town & Hanseatic city Greifswald (old market square, ruins of the Eldena monastery, university from 1456, home of the romantic mysticist Caspar David Friedrich, St. Mary’s & St. Nicolas’ church), Neubrandenburg – the city of four gates in the middle of a beautiful landscape (St. Mary’s church – one of the most beautiful brick gothic churches in Northern Germany, old town gates, St. John’s church & Franciscan monastery, chapel of St. George). Overnight stay: Neubrandenburg
Day 7: Poland: border city Szczecin on the banks of the river Odra – two third of the city is occupied by lakes, canals, parks, forests etc. (St. James’ cathedral, riverside structure “hooked terraces” from 1920, parks, old city hall, St. Peter’s & Paul’ church), city and seaside resort Kolobrzeg – the pearl of the Baltic Sea (salt springs, St. Mary’s church, medieval tenement, gunpowder tower). Overnight stay: Kolobrzeg
Day 8: Poland: city Stargard – Pomerania’s Jewel (St. Virgin Mary Queen of the world’s collegiate, old town hall, St. John Baptist church, bastion, Gothic house), Germany: Marwitz – home of artistic ceramics manufactures), Transfer to Berlin. Overnight stay: Berlin
Day 9: Potsdam - Sightseeing tour (UNESCO World Heritage Sites: park and palace Sanssouci, historic own market, old town square), Farewell lunch in Berlin, Berlin: sightseeing & boat trip on the river Spree (Brandenburg gate, Museum Island, Potsdamer Platz, Berlin cathedral). Overnight stay: Berlin
