East German World Heritage Tour itinerary
(10 days, Friday-Sunday, on land: 8 days / 8 nights)
Day 1: Individual departure from the U.S. or elsewhere
Day 2: Individual arrival & activities in Berlin, Welcome Dinner in modern German capital Berlin - one of the most spirited and exciting cities in the world! Overnight stay: Berlin
Day 3: Berlin tour "history and modernity" (Museum Island, Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, Berlin cathedrals, Opera house, Berlin's Social Housing & Bauhaus architecture, boat trip through the historic parts of Berlin). Overnight stay: Quedlinburg
Day 4: Thuringia tour northern part (small town and castle Quedlinburg, Luther town Eisleben, Thuringian state capital Erfurt with cathedral and historic town). Overnight stay: Erfurt
Day 5: Thuringia tour southern part (Classical Weimar - home of famous artists such as Goethe, Schiller, Bach, Herder; European Capital of Culture in 1999, Luther Fortress Wartburg in Eisenach). Overnight stay: Erfurt
Day 6: Saxony tour (Royal Porcelain manufacture Meissen, wine-tasting lunch at the castle Proschwitz, capital Dresden - the former royal residence for the kings of Saxony, Overnight stay: Dresden
Day 7: Dresden (sightseeing old town), River Elbe valley with scenic boat trip to the castle Pillnitz. Overnight stay: Dresden
Day 8: Saxony-Anhalt tour (Garden-Kingdom Dessau-Woerlitz, Bauhaus school of architecture - Master's houses in Dessau). Overnight stay: Berlin
Day 9: Potsdam tour - the former royal residence for the Prussian kings (park and palace Sanssouci, old market square, palace Cecilienhof - venue of the Potsdam Conference in 1945, Marble palace). Farewell dinner in the historic Berlin. Overnight stay: Berlin
Day 10: Individual departure from Berlin and individual arrival in the U.S. or elsewhere
